Introducing: Bastille

Bastille are one of my favorite bands right now, and have been for a few months. And I really should have written about them months ago.

Their album, Bad Blood, came out in the UK in March and entered the charts at #1, and is packed with great songs. Not a single song on the album I don’t like.

Bastille tread the balance between pop, rock, and electronic music very well. Their songs have great and epic production, but don’t sound overproduced. There are great subtle in their songs, driven by great lyrics and instantly catchy hooks.

Bastille released an EP in the US called Haunt, which included “Overjoyed”, “Pompeii”, “Bad Blood” and a demo version of “Haunt”. They are starting to generate great buzz in teh US and hopefully they’ll get the proper support and promotion and will have a successful launch in the US.

Their upcoming show at The Troubadour in July quickly soldout – which is a very good indication of their upcoming success. I’m really looking forward to the show.

And that’s enough from me… it’s time to let Bastille’s music speak for itself. Here are some of my favorite tracks from the album:

“Bad Blood”:

“Pompeii” – their highest charting song in the UK:

“Things We Lost To The Flames” is my favorite song from Bastille at the moment:

And here’s an awesome acoustic version of “Flaws”:
