Miro’s 52 Songs of 2014

As 2014 is coming to an end, here are the 52 songs that defined the year for me. These are the songs that resonated with me and some I had on repeat for days on end.

There were several albums that dominated my listening this year, (and I’ll post my albums of 2014 soon), so I limited this playlist to one song per artist. Also, I chose Spotify as the means of creating this list, so Taylor Swift is not on it, but otherwise, “Blank Space” would be included on this list.

In no particular order, here are the 52 songs that defined 2014 for me:

What were songs that you enjoyed in 2014 that weren’t on my list?

Song of the Day: Bastille – “Oh Holy Night”

I’m not too keen on Christmas music, but “Oh Holy Night” is one of my favorites and as luck should have it, my favorite band, Bastille, did this amazing cover on their “Other People’s Heartache Part II” EP.

Happy Christmas everyone!

And then, THIS happened. Best. Christmas. EVER!

@itsaMiro: Song of the Day: @BastilleDan – “Oh Holy Night” http://t.co/3mP9zpoB3p#Bastille#MerryChristmas” thanks dude

Bastille “Flaws” with ALT 98.7fm at Sayers Club in Hollywood

One of the perks of working for iHeartMedia is seeing some of my favorite bands up close and personal. On Thursday 12/11, I was able to see my favorite band of the last few years, if not all time, Bastille play an intimate acoustic set to The Sayers Club in Hollywood.

It was only a few weeks ago that I skipped our company’s holiday party to see them at The Shrine. It was one of the best shows I’ve seen this year. Oh yeah, our party is an exclusive event at Disneyland, we literally shut it down. And I skipped it without hesitation.

Needless to say, it was amazing seeing Bastille in an intimate setting and hearing “Bad Blood,” “Things We Lost In The Fire,” “Flaws,” and “Pompeii” was epic.

Additionally moment I geeked out: seeing one of my pics on Bastille’s officially Instagram account!
