One of my favorite newcomers to the music scene is Alessia Cara. The nineteen year old Canadian musician has a style all her own and it’s refreshing.
I first heard “Here,” which was written about an experience she had at a party, and as an introvert, I completely relate and the message resonates me with. Lyrics and theme aside, the production and her vocals are distinctly Alessia Cara.
She reminds me of Lorde, in the sense that she’s young, and has a style/vision and I foresee Alessia making music and an impact for the next few years.
Alessia recently released her amazing debut EP, Four Pink Walls, and it’s brilliant. It’s equally pop, while being real, relatable and just sound amazing. I really like the EP as a whole, but the opening track, “Seventeen” is an undeniable hit. I was fortunate to see her at The Troubadour and upon hearing “Seventeen,” I instantly called it as her next single.
If you’re not familiar with Alessia Cara, you’re missing out and we need to fix that. Check out “Here” and “Seventeen.”
