Ok, initially I wasn’t too keen on Michael Buble’s new song, “It’s A Beautiful Day”. It’s a good and catchy pop song. I’m not a big fan of standards, but I really like them when Michael sings them. I like his delivery and his spin on them. And it’s very evident in this song.
It’s a grower, and a great song. I felt the same way about “Haven’t Met You Yet”. They’re great songs… but something is missing. And I think I just prefer the slower, emotional ballads like “Home”, and “Lost”. Those two songs are on my list of all-time favorite songs.
I’m coming around to the upbeat and peppy Buble, but I think his gift is the way he emotes in his music, his honesty, vulnerably and the way in which he sings about being down and brokenhearted. And I kind of miss that.
I like “It’s A Beautiful Day” and “Haven’t Met You Yet”, but will take “Home” and “Lost” on repeat any day of the week.
“It’s A Beautiful Day” is the lead single from Buble’s upcoming album, To Be Loved, which will be released later this month. Here’s an album trailer:
Definitely looking forward to hearing many of the songs, including Buble’s take on “Who’s Lovin You”, “You’ve Got A Friend In Me”, “To Love Somebody”, and most of all, “Have I Told You Lately That I Love You”.
