Last night I had the absolute pleasure of seeing the amazing Ellie Goulding at The Troubadour in Hollywood. It was my fifth time seeing her, and she’s really at the top of her game. Her vocals were on point, and she sounded incredible. She’s really grown more comfortable on stage and really shines. She mentioned the venue felt like a living room, and it really did feel that intimate.
Here’s the trailer for the webcast of the show:
She opened the show with an amazing a cappella introduction to “Don’t Say A Word”, which was mesmerizing and set the tone for the night. “Figure 8” is my favorite song on the new album, and also a highlight from the night. She also played “My Blood”, “Halcyon”, “Explosions”, an incredible version of “I Know You Care”. Another standout live performance was of “Only You”, which was brilliantly mixed into “Under The Sheets”.
And of course the venue went crazy with “Anything Can Happen” and “Lights”, followed by an incredible and eerie silence for “Your Song”, culminating with the final song, “Starry Eyed”.
Throughout the show, I kept hearing people say that she sounds incredible. She has unique texture in her voice, and it really does translate in her live performances. The new songs she played live were fantastic and on-point, and when she tours, it’s definitely worth catching her.
