Alicia Keys is back, and she’s on fire!
Her fifth studio album, Girl On Fire, is set to be released at the end of November. Since Element of Freedom was released in 2009, Alicia Keys has married and had a child, providing inspiration for many of the songs on Girl on Fire.
The first proper single is the album’s title track, and it’s good!
It’s definitely a catchy tune and she sounds great. I love the concept and styling of the video, well done Sophie Muller. It slightly reminds me of Samantha from Bewitched. Alicia looks amazing.
I much prefer this original version than the “Inferno Version” which features Nicki Minaj… ugh, no thanks. There’s also another version, the “Bluelight version”, which is mellow and more breathy-heavy vocals. Really, the original is amazing and the best of all three.
A few months ago, Alicia also released another song from the album, “New Day”, which has a great drumbeat introduction. It’s more upbeat and I really love Alicia’s vocals on it, and the chorus. It’s a great upbeat and inspirational anthemic song, one we’d expect from Alicia.
As much as I love Alicia Key, her last two albums have been all over the place in terms of lyrics/concept, and not all the songs were standout tracks. Hopefully this one will be more focused and solid throughout.
Nevertheless, Alicia never fails to deliver amazing songs that definitely stand the test of time. I remember the first time I heard Songs in A Minor and have been a massive fan since. Her live shows are incredible, and having met her on several occasions, Alicia is one of the nicest and friendliest musicians I’ve met. She can really do no wrong.
I’m ready for Girl on Fire.
