Fran Healy is easily one of my favorite songwriter and singer. The band Travis is one of my favorites, and Fran is the lead singer and a songwriter. I’ve been a fan for over 10 years, and with each passing year, I become more fond of their music. Last year I saw Fran Healy and Andy Dunlop play an acoustic show, complete with stories and a slideshow, and it was amazing. They recorded the show and released it as an album called A Chronological Acoustical Journey Through The Travis Back Catalogue Live. Seriously, it is one of my favorite albums of all time – it’s all Travis songs, acoustic, and with a story about the song. Such a genius idea.
Fran doing his first solo album, called, Wreckorder, which is scheduled to be released on the 5th of October. From what I’ve read, the album will have a collaboration with Sir Paul McCartney. And from what I know of Fran and his music, this album is going to be amazing and brilliant. I’m excited for new material from Fran.
The first solo song released by Fran is a song called “Buttercups”. The song is not a departure from the music of Travis, and could easily be dropped into a Travis album. I really love anything Fran Healy does, and this is no exception. It’s a simple song, with a catchy melody, and good lyrics.
