“Guns and Horses” is the next and third single from Ellie Goulding‘s debut album, Lights. The song opens the album, and is one of my favorites on the album. In fact, I really like the whole album; my only complaint is that the album is too short. There are 10 songs, only 37 minutes of music – I’d like more, please. I also like that Ellie is not only a talented singer, but she wrote/co-wrote all ten tracks. I don’t think there is a song on the album I don’t like.
“Guns and Horses” is one of my favorites on the album. The song is really catchy and is about Ellie’s attempt at finding love on the Internet. I really like that the songs starts off with just Ellie and a guitar, and builds into a great upbeat dance-pop track with the chorus. The video was shot at Griffith Park in LA this past March, and is really odd. I’m not sure I get it or really like it, but the song is great (as is the album).
Here is the music video:
A while ago, Ellie performed the song on Later Live With…. Jools Holland: She is actually a great singer and not just a studio artist. The song sounds really different without all the added studio effects, and is still a solid track. I like how they performed the last minute. I also like that she actually wrote the song, played the guitar, and sang live – you don’t see that too often with dance or pop artists these days (not knocking those that don’t, but it’s just more impressive when they do).
What do you think of the song? What about the video?
